my aunt has, what she calls vinyl paneling. she'd like to paint over it and was wondering if there was any special prep and/or paint for this job. i'd appreciate any help you can give me/her.

Not exactly sure what the paneling is unless it's a vinyl embossed stuff, kinda like wallpaper laminated onto luan. At any rate, I'd recommend you give it a shot by priming first with Zinsser's 1-2-3, it sticks to glass. Make sure you clean the paneling first.
