View Full Version : Temporary concrete floor surface?

Hi! On impulse, I've just spent the afternoon tearing out the living room carpet (my good but old dogs have had too many accidents, and the odor was not subtle). I will scrub the surface with a TSP equivalent tomorrow, since the concrete beneath is also stinky. Can anyone suggest an adventurous (temporary) treatment for it, until I can afford to do a real floor? I may have to just paint it -- unless there's a DIY concrete stain/seal that would give it a pretty and dog-resistant finish. Something that looks textured/maybe a bit on the rustic side would be fun. I have many varieties of paint (including some boring tan concrete floor paint) on hand, as well as polyurethane and other finishes. Is there DIY epoxy? Thanks, all!

Marcy,

There are DIY epoxies, which is something you should consider maybe. The penetrating concrete stains would probably give you a more claw resistant finish being they are absorbed by the concrete and not just sitting on top.
