I removed the pre-pasted paper from my entry hall today
but the walls are covered with the sizeing and paste. Do I need to sand the walls before painting to remove the paste and sizeing? It is sort of a dark gold color and I want to paint my walls a pale green. Thank you for your help.

sbrow23, It would be much better to sponge the paste off. Wet it down and let it set for a while and sponge until clean. Any paste left on the walls will bleed through latex paints..Mike
