I want to build a brick loft style brownstone home. I would like to keep the walls of the main floor uncovered (i.e. natural brick showing. Is this unrealistic in terms of insulation value. I live near Edmonton ALberta and winter temps can be -30 to -40 celcius. Is there a way to enhance the natural insualtion factor of the brick? Any ideas on where I can look for further information on this?

Warmth is no secret: mass & insulation. An insulated cavity wall is one way. A cavity wall with insulated CMU backup units and external brick veneer is another.
