I have 20 year old 12x12 vinyl "Flair Squares" on my bathroom walls that I've been covering with wallpaper. It's time to finally get them down. The glue is dry and brittle. I've attempted to take a few down and they come off with a little work, but the glue is ripping the paper off the sheetrock. Except for the paper coming off, the sheetrock is in good shape (no holes or gouges). Is there anyway to coat the sheetrock so I can paint the walls, or a way to get the glue off without ripping the paper?

Hello,
As long as the paper is more or less intact, you can patch the gouges with joint compound. If you lose a majority of the paper, I would recommend replacing the rock.
Good Luck!

hello needsumhelp!
This is just a suggestion, the people who lived in our home before us had used super glue or some kind of cement to hold down the wall paper around our baseboard heat.
As I started to take off it also took some of the paper off the drywall. So I took steam iron (my area isn't as big) and used the steam to loosen the glue. This help alot.
