Have 5/8 overhead sheet rock. Some cracks.Have nailed down with round head roofing nails to secure to overhead rafters.Want to add fibertile under for dress, with paneling glue.Would this method be okay,or would I have any sagging later.Rafters are 16oc.Ceiling has been painted, should it be sanded first.

Hello,
I'm not 100% sure, but I think you'd be alright. Anyone know for sure? 5/8 is fine for texture and paint, but I have no experience with applying fibertile over it. I would say a light sanding is a good idea.
Good Luck!
