I am having a new roof installed (a cape cod style house) and in one upstairs bedroom there are some nail holes beginning to poke through the drywall. they are not completely through but show signs of cracking the drywall at the head. one nail head is through though. i dont know if the men climbing on the roof is making this happen or if it is just a coincidence. i am planning on putting in nails above and below and then pounding the nails that have protruded back in and re-mudding the dimples. my house is around 25 years old with no water damage - it was just time for a new roof. any advice on whether this is the right course of action would be much appreciated.

Re-dimple the nails, and overlap the nailheads with the head of a drywall screw. That will hold much better, and prevent future pops. Then spackle over the dimple.
Good Luck!
