I have a project that I started last year and want to finish up this year. It's a simple aggregate lawn edging made of concrete (which I put into my own little forms) and then put pea gravel (or the fancier term, aggregate) in the top while the concrete is wet.

Anyway, the experimental first part turned out great and now I'd like to finish the job. Even though it is "officially" spring, when is it safe to lay concrete in the beautiful Great Lake state of Michigan? Do I have to wait until that elusive "last frost"? Thanks.

Ideally ground and air temperature should be 50 degrees or above, but it's possible to nudge things. The ground temperature should be 40 degrees or above. The gamble is beating a frost by seven days or more. If G=40 & A=50 mix with 70-75 degree water. If G=40 & A=40 mix with 80-90 degree water.
