Hello,
I have a home built in the 1930's and as expected the walls are made of plaster. The house is structurally fine but the house has settled significally resulting in severe cracks in the walls and ceilings of the 2nd floor.
My question is as follows: Would it be better, as in more cost effective, to have the cracks repaired or simply to remove the plaster and replace with drywall. Also, what are the pros and cons of plaster and drywall. I've heard that plaster provides better soundproofing is that true? Are walls built of drywall as high in quality as walls built of plaster?
