I have been trying to find 'how-to' info on making concrete look like various materials; natural stone, brick, etc. I saw this at a home show and would really love to learn this method. I have a concrete stain called Kemiko that does a beautiful stain job, but how do they get those realistic patterns of stone and brick and...??? Thanks for any help.

A full answer to your question is an entire book or six or seven. A synopsis: the mix design (architectural concrete). Concrete pigments, (both liquid and dry earth colors). Finely ground minerals (remnants of real stone). Concrete stamps (patterns of plastic or steel placed into wet concrete. Stencils (another type of patterning). Acid stains (certain minerals applied in a carrier acid (usually weak hydrochloric acid - commonly known as muriatic acid), that permanently change the color of concrete. Concrete stains (a type of paint product). Concrete toppings or "overlays".

You can find out more about these things here http://www.decorative-concrete.net/index.html It should
keep you busy for the next few weeks. The Portland Cement Assoication http://www.portcement.org/
sell publications on all aspects of concrete & cement. They have some free information also.
