View Full Version : Papering over scored wallpaper

I just moved into a house and decided to paint the kitchen, which involves removing the wallpaper. I had no idea that you could paint over wallpaper, so I proceeded to score all the wallpaper and apply DIF several times per the directions. The paper simply won't budge. It's coming off in tiny little bits, and my fingers are so sore I can hardly type this message. I am assuming that all the little score marks will show through the paint if I decide to paint over this. When I rub my hand across the paper, I can feel a bumpy pattern from my energetic scoring. If the bumps will show through, I assume I be better off wallpapering over the paper instead, which is fine. Do I need to do any extra prep other than typical paper-over-paper prep to deal with the little bumps? Sigh. I tried to do it right...
