solarium on second floor, was a outside porch attached
to main struture(house)by floor, base on two sonatubes
two years ago had a contractor close in porch & had windows
and patio door on top underneath one door only no windows
keep garden stuff...
this year i have a problem cracks around windows base(top)
above door on ground level(bottom) one of the sonatubes
has risen about one inch looks like the melting snow
water & refroze was the problem.
i read somewhere about using metal posts instead of the
sonatubes he used. do you know where or who does this?
or should i have a drain dug all around the enclosed
base???

I read "frost heaving". Footing depth and drainage away from are common methods of avoidance. Wood, concrete, or steel for support makes little difference.
