What do you do with the overhang on stairs to be ceramic tiled. Overhang is approximately 1"
If unable to answer can you direct me to a site that can possibly provide the information needed ceramic stairs.

You need to cut the wood nosing off. Then you can use a ceramic nosing especially made for stairs. I'll tell you, though, most stair casings are not built well enough to support ceramic tiles. It's got to be super solid.
