I just bought a house built in 1931. It has plaster walls. I know from previous experience that plaster tends to crumble when you put a nail or screw into it (or when you take them out for that matter). Is there a "trick" to avoid this, or any special nails or screws that do less damage?

Heres a little trick my mother taught me, put a peice of scotch tape over the plaster before you put your nail in the wall it should stop it from crumbling on you,
Good Luck
