I'm replacing all the molding in my kitchen and will have to install compound maple crown molding above and below all the new cabinets. In nail guns they've got 18ga brad nailers and then 16ga and 15ga finish nailers. The 18ga brad nail is the skinniest nail and I originally thought I would go with one of these but am wondering if it's got the power to work well with hard wood like maple. Is a 16ga or 15ga finish nailer a better choice or are these too heavy for just 3/8 - 1/2 thick molding stock?

If you have a good brad nailer like Porter Cable or Bostich, you should have no problem. Not all brad nailers are the same. With a brad nailer, you will not have alot of nail heads to fill and finish as with a finish nailer.
