Hi,
We have successfully tiled some rooms, now we are about to do the hallway with a different pattern of tile. My query is how are different patterns of tiles joined? With a grout line? Or a trim of some kind?

You are asking a design question, and I usually have a designer to fill me in on those things, but . . .
A grout joint will look fine if it is done precisely -- no raggety cuts, etc. Each peice has to line up with the next exactly -- a straight line.
Otherwise, go to some sort of cover-up -- a strip of something or other.
