My husband and I would like to install limestone tiles in our entryway and bathroom. He has installed ceramic tiles before, but I understand that natural stone is a bit more difficult to install. Can anyone please elaborate and give details of the differences as well as any tips to help.

Also, does anyone know of a website that we could try different patterns for the tiles?

Thanks

Linda

Hi Linda,

Whereas ceramic tiles can be cut on a tile cutting board, stone tiles cannot. You need a wet saw for every little cut. Additionally, the tiles must be set absolutely level or the job will look terrible. They are set faily close together -- a sixteenth to an eighth. Limestone tiles must be thouroughly sealed. You might want to seal the surfaces before installation and grouting.

Rich has some patterns displayed on his site.
