We are remodeling our living room that has a cathedral ceiling. The beams are exposed and have been stained. They are very dry and I would like to know how to treat them. Someone had suggested linseed oil but I wasn't sure. This room also has a woodburning fireplace that is used regularly.

Try Thompsons Oil Soap.

I've heard of Murphy's Oil Soap and had thought about using that, but have never heard of Thompson's??? Would it be found with the other Thompson products like water sealer, etc.?

You are right. It's Murphy's. My mistake. You'd think I would remember Murphy's.
