I am new to woodworking and am building a cedar chest. I have some trim pieces that I have routered and made to look real nice. I now have to miter cut these pieces at a 45 degree angle on my table saw and need to know how to measure and cut this. My table saw is a 10" craftsman. I have tryed and can't figure it out and it is getting guit expensive. I have to pieces of oak that measure 3/4" by 1 1/2" x 50 " that are glued together to make one piece that measures 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" x 50" I have also used a 1/2" cove router bit on two sides and a 1/4" round over bit on the part that was formed by the cove bit to form a very nice looking piece on material. I have a plan that I bought over the internet that I am working from and it goes in much detail but does not tell me how to measure for this miter cut. On one side of this trim it is not to much of a problem because I can eyeball it but on the other side it is a problem. I hope someone can help me on this.
Thank you

Most people don't like this answer, but....
Make a jig (simple) to hold the wood on the saw the way it sets on the wall.
Then your cut is simple 45. Anytime angles are cut the simplest way is to cut the wood the way it is installed.
Please try it before you deny it.

Thank You Eddie for the help. I went to rockler and asked the same question and they gave me the same answer. I did do just that and it worked out just fine.
