in most cases if its just standard heat and maybe a summer fan option youll only have three wires to worry about.
nine times out of ten it will be a red a white and a green.
The red will be your 24 volt power white is for the heat and green is for the summer fan. On your tstat subbase you will have an R a W and a G. Red wire goes to r white wire goes to w and green wire goes to g.
pretty simple.
