Help! I have a Whirlpool gas dryer, that was bought in 1992,and it won't dry the clothes. The heater vents inside get hot and the drum turns just fine. If I put in a load of clothes it takes forever for them to get even a little less damp.

Hi bristlecone

Most likely cause is the exhaust vent tubing or metal pipe is restricted or clogged up with lint. If it's a plastic exhaust vent, could be bent or kinked.

Also check the outside exhaust vent hood. It's inner door flapper may be stuck closed or not openning fully. The flapper should lift up and drop down freely.

There is plenty more information on this subject in the archives of this forum. Check into them.
