Does anyone have any experience with the Allergy free filters that are advertised on the radio? The price is rather expensive, but if it's worth it, then maybe I can bring myself to get one.

If not, what can I do about all of the dust that accumulates in my house? Example: I cleaned the house floors and all. 24 hours later, dust was showing up in great amounts by the heat vents.

Thanks for any assistance.

Get your ducts cleaned and pay the bucks for an electronic air filter if you can. It'll definitely solve the dust/allergy problems. Yes alergy filters are expensive and must be replaced(if throwaway type) or cleaned(if washable) monthly to get the benefits.

Sorry about that, I should have been more specific.

I have a Bryant Gas Furnace (Upflow Model 394HAD) with a Space Gard High Efficiency filter on the side. No AC, just run it in the fall/winter. Supposedly only change the filter every 1-2 years according to the instructions.

With that much dust, I would assume that your Space gaurd is not working or it needs to be changed.

The air filter itself was changed last Fall. Is it possible the ducts may need to be cleaned? We just moved in over a year ago. It's possible they need to be cleaned, since the last owner didn't do too much to the home.

BTW, what is an electronic air filter?

Try getting the ducts cleaned first, since you know the previous owner did not change filters regularly. Go to honewell.com and search, Electronic Air Cleaners. There is quite abit of info about them.

We have two large (upstairs/downstairs) return allergy-free filters (cost $100+ ea.) that I backwash with a water hose each month.
They seem to collect a lot more dust each month than our old replaceables.
I guess that they are doing what they say, but have no way of knowing.
