We just bought a new house which is 26 yrs old. My wife wanted to remove the wall paper in the kitchen area. There were 3 layers. The first came off pretty easy but the next 2 did not. Places where there is joint compound the wallpaper came off but didn't where the sheet rock was bare and you cant remove it without damaging the sheet rock paper. I began to apply joint compound but the wallpaper began to bubble. How do you cover the old wall paper. PLus how do you apply the joint compound. I tried but could not get all the trowel marksout to where it was smooth.
