My forced air funace stopped forcing air this morning. Its a "Williams" by Magic chef. model G65-105-30.

The pilot is on, the breaker is good and the burners ignite occasionally, but the blower won't go on. Can you help me with this? Thanks

Turn power off, remove lower panel of unit.Check to see if it is belt driven or direct drive. If it has a belt check it.At the same time spin the motor pulley and squirrel cage pulley. If it is direct drive see if the squirrel cage turns. If the motors and/or pulleys do not turn in both above cases you have bad bearings. If they turn freely then you have an electrical problem;either a bad motor or no power to motor.Does the motor feel hot to the touch?Your furnace is now cycling on a high limit control.Give us a holler back asap to let us know what you found.PDF

Thanks for geting back to me so quick. It is a belt driven blower and the belt is sound. Since my last post, I read some of the posts from others and tried a couple of things.... took the thermistat off the wall and joined the two wires... nothing happened. While I had it off the wall, I cleaned it and replaced it. Now the damn blower is cycling. I bought a new thermistat and I'm going to hook it up tonite.

Do you think its the thermistat or a coincidence? I also noticed there is a small leak just below where the pilot flame is. I'm having a hard time locating a magic chef furnace parts distributer though and I know the small section of tubing from the propane gas supply line to the pilot assembly needs to be replaced. Do you know of any?

Thanks, Harry

Magic Chef is primarily generic. The pilot tubing is 1/4" o.d. Check for a Johnstone Supply in your area. They do carry OEM parts for Magic Chef. Try Armstrong also, they are made by Magic Chef and the parts are pretty inter changable.

What jumped out at me in your first note was the burners light occasionally! The burners should light and stay lit until the thermostat is satisfied or the high limit is made on the fan control. If you have a manual push button on your fan control, push it in and see if your blower starts, if you don't have one, start the furnace and watch to see if the fan control dial turns and a what temperature things happen. From this we can make further suggestions. If your thermostat has bad or has dirty contacts, it could be cycling the furnace burner at a rate that does not allow the fan limit to get to its "on" temperature.
Hope this helps.
