My heat pump has icing on the coils outside, is this caused by the reverse cycle not working properly? If so, what do I need to do to fix it?

Place unit to a/c and see if ice and frost start to melt from coil.There are a lot of reasons this could happen.It could be electrical,mechanical or even weather conditions.It the valve shifts the large copper line outside will get cold and the smaller line will start to feel warm.Give us a ring back after you check this out.PDF
