I am wanting to glaze or age my existing wallpaper which is very light - to give it an old world or antiqued finish. Does anyone have any past experience with this project?

You will have to seal the paper first with water based varnish (Satin) first.....Without it the paper will just soak up your ageing medium and look blotchy.
Use some antique pine or darker water based stain and apply with a lint free rag. Practice on a piece of wallpaper that is not attached to your wall first untill you achieve the desired effect. Another option is to use a waterbased yellow ochre tinted glaze{Instead of the stain) I was a scenic painter for the BBC and we used these methods (among others) to age film and TV sets. Hope this stuff helps.....
Oh yes...I nearly fogot to mention..... Some BBC designers asked us from time to time to age wallpapered sets,Documents,Photo copied photo`s with black tea!! No glaze required but you must work fast using a sponge (not allowing the tea to run}..Again.....DO A TEST FIRST!!!

Toptosher--Thanks for answering my thread. Your suggestions sound like the perfect answer to my problem. I am glad especially to know to use the water-based varnish to seal the wallpaper first. Thanks for your help.
