Carbon Monoxides Awareness:
Dated 02-25-01

I must be the first to admit that I have overlooked a very important safety awareness regarding Carbon Monoxides. I should have posted a reminder awareness on this topic at the very start of the cold weather season beginning last fall, year 2000. I didn't...:( Please excuse me...:o

<FYI: Excuses Explained.>
I got side tracked developing new forum suggestions, topics and ideas, answering existing questions in my own forums and posting "My Two Cents Worth" to questions in others forums...:D Extended PRE-Senior Moment exceptable? <haha>

Everyone that has gas appliances <natural or propane> located anywhere within the interior of their homes, needs to be highly aware of carbon monoxides and the possibility of the poisonous fumes entering the living environment.

I am not going into any detailed explanation of all the causes of carbon monoxides. Nor the properties of carbon monoxides or cover the symptoms. Nor offer suggestions of what to do if you suspect carbon monoxides are present in your home. Awareness of CO is the main intent.

If you yourself are remodeling any room in the house that already has an existing gas appliance, adding an appliance, relocating or enclosing in a structure etc. any gas appliance {other then replacing an existing stove} I suggest and highly recommend you check with your local building and safety department in regards to the cities code requirements.

If the project isn't being done by yourself or your not sure your plans, with regards to the gas appliances, will meet codes and safety requirements, for you own safety and peace of mind, by all means hire a locally licensed plumber or appliance installation contractor for this phrase of the project.

For a minor overview on the subject of CO as it pertains to interconnections into an existing chimney or exhaust flue, with replies pertaining to and safety precautions for, you should read the topic dated 02-25-01 posted by Lisa.

In recognition of this important topic and a reminder to me to post a safety awareness message, I offer my special thanks to Lisa C.

Regards,
Tom
