Please Help. We have a leak that only occurs when we take a shower. It does not occur when we run the shower or just run the bath. We tried to re-seal around the fiberglass unit but it is still leaking down to the ceiling below. Could the unit be pulling away from the drywall and causing the drywall to rot or allow water to drip down?

Sounds like the shower floor is flexing when you're in it, and the seal under the drain is leaking.
Unscrew the drain, remove the old seal, and use a roll of plumber's putty the size of pencil around the drain hole.
Clean off the excess putty after tightening down drain.
Good Luck!

How long does it take for the putty to set before we can use the shower again?

Plumbers Putty does not set. You can use the shower immediately afterwards.
