I wouldlike to heat water behind my wood stove before the water goes into an electric water heater. Does anyone have plans, information on pipe size, safety releases other considerations?

My dad did this years ago. Very simply, he added a large round stainless steel tank to the water line and had a small portion of the tank within the shroud of the wood burner. He originally had a square tank, but with the expansion of such a hot area, around tank worked out better. His wood burner and tanks were custom since he owns a welding shop, but I see no reason why you could not simply mount the tank right next to the wood burner. Even 10 degrees would make a big difference in your electric bill.

Hello
you need a manifold....to make one just use 3/4" gav. pipe
if your fire box is 18" long make it 16" long. enter the back of the fire box go to the front install a 'U' fitting and go back to the back..install a 'U' fitting and go to the front again..install a 'U' fitting and go to the back of the box and then out to the water heater.....use a fire proof culking around the pipes so the firer will not fall out of the box..Good luck...keep a lot of wood on hand....
