I would like to paint the huge cinder block hearth around our pellet stove. It has never been painted before, I need info on preparing it for paint, what kind of primer etc. Thanks!

To paint block you will need to make sure it is clean, prime with a Block Filler from your paint store, caulk if/where needed with a PAINTABLE latex caulk, paint two coats of quality latex wall paint, simple really :)

Use a 1/2 inch roller nap for all coats.
