I would like to paint and plant some type of moss in the cracks of my driveway. is their such a plant that won't crack it more?

Any plant will deteriorate your driveway and make the cracks worse. It is a question of degree, certainly, as some will cause more cracking faster than others, but I'm assuming you want to keep your current driveway permanently. If you're set on mosses, they won't do as much damage as rooted plants (mosses have no roots). A thick bed of mosses might also help prevent grass/weed seeds from getting into the cracks. Mosses are as far as I'd go, though, as anything with roots will certainly damage your drive (I remember from childhood lilly of the valley coming up right through the driveway where it was spreading from an adjacent bed!)
