Help!

I am in the market for replacement windows, and received a quote for Alside Windows. How do these rate? If you don't know specifically, please let me know if you have links for vinyl window ratings.

Thanks,
Dave

Alside makes a pretty fair window. You'll find better ones, but you could do a lot worse. While shopping for windows, COMPARE THE WARRANTIES. See what each brand covers for their frame construction as well as for the seal of the glass. You want frames that have mitered corners that are welded together; not corners that are butt jointed and assembled with screws. You want windows with a minimum 1" thick IG unit (total of the glass and the air space between them). And you don't want to look between the panes of glass and see aluminum -- you want to see a dull grey colored layer of butyl. And you want low-E glass. This will reduce your utility costs, year 'round. Compare the festation ratings for the various windows you look at. This is the MPG sticker of windows. (The lower the number, the better)
