I recntly moved into an apartment with 2 fireplaces. According to the landlord, the chimney's have been cleaned within the lasst 2 years. Everytime I light a fire, the apartment gets unusually smokey to the point that it makes it's way to the the front hallway of the building and up to the tenant above me. the flue's are definitely open and I even have a few windows open. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Lisa

Are there any nearby taller-than-the-chimney rooflines, buildings or trees?
Those could be causing a downdraft, and the only way to resolve it is with a revolving chimney cap.
Good Luck!
