We will be moving into a new home in June of this year. The developer will only paint all of the walls white. Once we move in, we want to paint different rooms various colors. Since the surface and paint will be in good condition, do we need to use a primer before we paint? If so, what type? Thanks for any input!

No, you don't unless you have stains or its a dark color and your going lighter which your not. I don't understand why he wouldn't do a color, it doesn't cost any more.

I agree, no primer needed since it is new walls and the walls will already be painted. The reason for the all white is the developer probably got the painter to bid a lower price for all white, being faster and easier, no cutting in of straight lines, probably sprayed it all, etc. You are right though, the paint itself is the same whether tinted or not.
