The windows in my home are old metal windows and I would like to paint the metal on a large picture window where the metal shows and is unsightly. I am uncertain how to do this. Can anyone offer some advice?

Is the metal aluminum or steel? Aluminum: purchase aluminum cleaner (try nice & easy aluminum cleaner) plus steel wool & follow directions. If you want to paint afterward lightly sand with fine grit sandpaper, fill pits with automotive glazing compound, prime and paint with latex. Steel: rust remover, clean with acetone, sand lightly, fill pits with automotive glazing compound, prime with oil base rust inhibitive primer, paint with latex or oil.

Sherwin Williams makes a good latex DTM (Direct to metal), lots of industries use it.
