I live in a double wide mobile home and am wanting to paint over the existing wall covering. As you know in these homes they cover the wall with drywall covered with slick paper and use a board and bat method of covering the seams in between the drywall. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to paint over this? I know that I will have to tape and mud all of the seams but am unsure of what paint I can use to not only cover the pattern on the board but also will stick to the slick paper cover that is already there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it were me, I would leave the trim boards in place and not tape and bed the joints, if you do and the existing wallcovering has any texture to it then you will see the slick joints running from floor to ceiling, remedy: skimming the entire wall.
As far as painting, make sure they are clean and dry and prime with an oil based primer such as kilz, then paint with a quality wall paint of choice (preferably latex)
Hope this helps.

we redid a bathroom in a mobile home that had wallboard. we used kilz over it forst, then painted with latex paint as chipco suggested. also, put up a wallpaper border. looks great.
