I have a brass sofa table with a thick glass top. It is a lovely table but I would like to paint the brass an antiqued looking gunmetal grey-silver finish. Is this possible and if so how would I go about it. Thanks for any and all help.

Mimic nickel plating with silver grey automotive spray lacquer. General prep: for polished brass, brass plate, and powder coatings, clean with lacquer thinner. For cast brass clean with lacquer thinner, remove mill glaze with a brass wire brush (labor intensive but not as dangerous as etching with acid).
Depending on the base metal, plating or powder coating, lacquering will or won't be an undoable act. Lacquer thinner will remove a protective lacquer coating, if present, and it may etch or remove a powdered coating.
