Magic Chef gas stove Model no.11AA-1 Serial no. 24x329 code no.975753 I have the above stove and I am having trouble controlling the oven heat. The pilot and burners work fine, but the temp. will not stay at the control knob setting. Is it possible to calibrate the Harper Wyman control valve with the small set screw in the center of the valve shaft? Any help in this regard would be appreciated as I have had people out twice to do this to no avail.

Hi:bjamha
It's amazing that you have had two other people out to calibrate this t-stat to no avail. A qualified service rep. would have known, during the initial pretest, that the calibratation wouldn't hold and should have told you so.
The question is what did they do as far as the calibration goes and what changed since then?
If they <whoever they are> did calibrate the t-stat but since then it has once again lost it's ability to hold the correct temp. then it's possible the t-stat has lost it's cap tube charge and needs to be replaced.
Adjustment is done thru the center set screw in the center of the stems shaft. However, without a digital readout temp gauge, the correct proceedures, etc. it most likely will not be set correctly.
Rule of thumb. If the oven will not hold the correct temp shortly after a perfect calibration, the t-stat needs to be replaced.
