Hi:kd7ask

Based on the information provided, several possiblities. Most common is the flame prover. Another could be a defective gas valve solenoid. Another could be a defective electronic module or worse yet the main computer board. A bad grounding wire or loosened connection. There are many more possiblities that may need testing to determine what part/parts are causing the condition.

For the doityourself-er, about the only thing you can do is clean the prover element. The instructions for whivh are posted in the heating and cooling appliance forum. You may also find info on the matter in this forum.

As a technician, in my opinion, modern furnaces with electronic controls {spark and flame prover elements, modules, printed circuits, power exhaust fans, several safety devices and circuits, etc.} homeowners and do it yourselfers attempting to locate and replace the problem componet is almost nill.

Electronically equipped appliances take a well trained and skilled person, with the correct testing equipment to locate and correct the problem.

It may not appear so while the rep is there. Almost alway's seems and looks so easy and quick to fix for so many bucks. That may not be so bad. That's what occurs in any occupational job and it only comes with experience.

I suggest you contact the licensed heating agent whom services the carrier brand and save yourself the time and headaches.

Hope your not to dismayed with an honest answer.
