I've got a upper floor in my pole barn that I'm using for a wood shop. I would like to insulate it. Gets pretty cold in the winter.
I've got gaps between the wood siding, about 1 inch. I could put battens on to close the gap, is this necessary? Do I need a vapor barrier? Can I use rigid insulation? Or, do I need to use the rolls?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Sue B.

Start with the battens to close off the gaps. Then use kraft faced R-13 (for 2X4) or R-19 (for 2X6) batts to insulate the walls (assuming you have studs either 16" or 24" O.C.). Then sheetrock the ceiling and walls and have cellulose blown into the attic. (I assume you will be heating the shop.)
