Most sofas are designed so they can be brought through a 36" door, usually by rolling them onto their front or back. Going through a 28" door probably isn't going to happen. Is there a window that is large enough to bring it through? If not, then you have a choice to make. A hole in the wall, or a smaller sofa?

What is the hieght of the door way?
What is the length of the couch?
What is the overall height of the couch with the legs removed?
What is the hieght from the floor to the top of the armrests?
Does the door way lead into a narrow hall or is thier a full opening on one side?
What is the distance from where the arm rest meets the backrest to the rear bottom corner of the couch?
If you already did the calculations and it won't fit then remove the trim around the jam, collapse the jam by prying the bottoms towards the center working your way up and down the jam. You may need to cut some nails with a sawzall.Remove the jam. If the jam was put in before the flooring around it then you may have to cut around the entire jam and work it up and out. Pull the nails so you don't tear the couch. If the math doesn't work then you might be in for a one time project unless of course you move.
