Does it matter if you use a flex pipe to finish off the connection to a gas dryer or should you hard pipe it the whole way. Thanks Jon

Hi:John
Opinions do vary but in mine, it really doesn't matter. In my years of field services I have never encountered any problems with that type of setup. What is important is the flex tubing cannot be crimped, bent or kinked too much.
The main objective is not to restrict the free flow of exhausted air. The freer the exhaust air is allowed to discharge, the more efficient the drying cycle will operate and the less time it will take to dry the clothes.
If your still in the process of installing the vent exhaust line, be sure the prior installed section is cleared out of any dust and lint.
You may also want or need to check the flapper door for free operation on the existing vent hood. If it's okay fine. If there is any doubt regarding it's condition, now would be the time to replace the outside discharge vent hood.
When the project is completed, the dryer will work correctly and it should be several years before any other maintenance is required.
