I have asked around, gone to the libary to research and surfed the web to no avail. What I am interested in is a shade tree for my front yard. It can't be very tall (no more than 20-30' with roots that will not invade my foundation or the sidewalk. It should be able to tolerate draught conditions, since I am in zone 9 (S. California) I am trying to create a garden cluster in my front yard that is made up of draught tolerent plants preferably native. I want to be able to put a table and chairs under it some day. Because of the plants that will be around it and all the mulch it should have leaves that stay on and won't fall off. It would be planted on the east side of our house. Does this tree exist? At this point I think not. Does anyone have any suggestions?
