I am currenty in the process of remodeling my bathroom shower. My delima is the house is an older 1950's house that wasn't desinged for a shower. previous home owner installed on and put up a shower liner for protection on the other side of the liner is plaster and then drywall. well to make a long story short the chaulk had deteriated and water has seeped up behind the liner. I think the only option i have to fix this problem is to take off the shower liner and cut plaster and drywall all the way to studs. i plan to tile so then put up durock and screw to studs and then tile. thought i would get other options from the full time do it yourselfer's

Hi Cidrain,
I'm a full-time pro and a part-time do-it-yourselfer.
I think you might be able to just put the cement backer board over the plaster instead of tearing everything out. That is, unless everything is soaked back to the studs, in which case I would remove it.
In any case, move your thread over to the tile and terrazzo board, and you'll get more responses. It's really a tile thing.
