I am currently building a house. (Sub-contracting...) Anyway, I was wondering if it is possible to insulate the walls with the blown in insulation without having to drill holes in the drywll? Could you blow it in through the top of the wall between the 2x4's? Is there a better suggestion for a do it yourselfer trying to save a buck?

Save a buck?? It would cost you more!! When a house is built, it is framed, trussed, and then the roof goes on. After the windows are installed, it is sided. How are you going to get to the top plates to blow the insulation with the roof in the way? To make matters worse, the first thing the sheetrockers will put up is the ceiling, and it's 'rocked right to the plates. THEN they rock the walls from the top down. IF you really wanted the cellulose in the walls, and didn't want to put the holes in the sheetrock to get it there, you could always put holes in the ROOF so you could get to the stud cavities. Pretty sure your roofer will charge you extra to come back and patch the holes though.
