I recently purchased a gas cook top and I am wondering if I can hook up the cook top by myself or do I have to call a professional to do it for me. I have read the directions and it doesn't seem to difficult too do. What are the major things that I need to be concerned about when installing my gas cook top? Thank you for your assistance.

Hi:Nadine
Several steps are important.
Refer to the instructions when installing the apppliance gas regulator. There is an arrow on the bottom if it. The arrow must face the stove top.
Install the gas supply connector as instructed and do not use pipe tape on the shut off valve from the gas supply pipe nor on the adaptors flared end. Use an oil or nothing.
A new cook top has an electric spark ignition. Do not use an extentsion cord to plug it in. The orginal electric cord from the appliance should be plugged directly into a grounded 3 wire recepticle.
