I am installing a pedestal sink in my bathroom... I've been told I need to install some plywood behind the sheetrock to attach the sink to. Is this true?
If so, Is the best way to do this to cut out the sheet rock and install the plywood inbetween the joices? If the sink spans across multiple joices, do i just install multiple pieces of plywood?

i went through this too. your sink must be fastened to the wall surface by 2 screws (most likely). I had to cut the wall open to move my pipes to the appropriate locations for my sink and while doing so i installed a 2x4 between the joists. the key, of course, is to place the board(s) where you'll be fastening the sink. so if you need 2 boards then use them...
