Like Susan's post, I too have ugly dark grained hollow interior doors. I have painted mine white, one coat primer and then two coats pure white and they look a thousand times better, even if they are still hollow!
I'm replacing my bedroom door with a solid core door. Frankly don't feel too secure with a hollow door that my grandma could break open.
My question is, the bedroom door is a slab door that I'm hiring my handy man to install. I suppose a door is only as secure as its hinge attachment to the door frame. It has two hinges. What should I do or ask my handy man to do to give me maximum security for my solid core bedroom door?
Thanks again so much for your expertise and help!

Interior doors are more about privacy than security, but I suppose that you could have him put in a third hinge and deadbolt to make it more secure.
If you're really concerned about security, you would be much better off securing the perimeter (exterior doors and windows)with an alarm system than just securing an interior door.
I personally use a live-in German Shepherd, rifles, pistols, and shotguns (all locked in the other end of the house) and leave my door open just in case Batwoman breaks in. heh heh heh
