Basements, Attics and Crawl Spaces - painting basement floor

I recently removed some very old and crumbly tile from my basement floor and would like to know what to use to remove the glue to prepare the concrete for painting?

What is a good mid grade, not to pricey, paint to use?

After reading your letter,you are probably not going to like what I have to say. But here goes. Glue has to be removed with something with a alcohol base. Some fingernail removers are the best bet. I myself use gasoline, but I cannot recommand this to to indoors. Some can be heated and melted then wiped up. Now for your paint.
They do not make a cheap, medium line concrete paint or stain. It costs about $18.00 a gallon. But before you paint it, you must first clean it with almost pure bleech, then seal your floor with a concrete sealer, then paint it.
Someone will probably say stain it. but if you do, you will be back here in 2 years asking about the scuff marks.Good Luck

Try Sunnyside Tile Adhesive remover,available at Tru Value and othe paint and hardware stores.Do a small section at a time..do not let dry..use a buffer and black pad until you see glue come up..add water..squeege unto puddle,vac. up with wet vac.
