We have brass faucets that need to be continuously polished. Does anyone have a recommended coating that will reduce oxidation? I thought someone experienced with furniture refinishing might by chance have a solution to my problem.

Many thanks...Bart from Colorado

Bart:

Most brass fixtures (door plates, faucets, door knobs) come with a lacquer designed for metal as a coating. If your brass is tarnishing, then this finish has worn off.

The 'brass lacquer' I mentioned is available from most furniture refinishing supply houses, including the one at the link listed below.

BTW - severe tarnish on SOLID BRASS can be easily removed with white vinegar and 0000 steel wool.

Here's that link:

Thanks for solving my problem. The link to a supplier was an excellent resource.

I can't seem to find the product needed to solve my problem at http://www.woodfinishsupply.com/. I did a search with their search engine but didn't turn up anything.

I know I am doing something wrong...but can't figure it out.

Bart,

I told you on the same post in another forum that you could buy spray laquer at most hardware stores, and you can also get it at Pep Boys (auto supply stores).

That website as a "contact us" button - use it and ask for "Lacquer for Brass".
